How To Make A Protein Mug Cake In 1-minute
Okay, it’s late at night and you find yourself in the kitchen looking for something to satisfy your sweet tooth. What are you reaching for you?
We’ve all been here and we all have wished for that perfect thing that mixes health and flavor in beautiful harmony. Enter the protein mug cake.
A protein mug cake is quite literally a cake that you can make in a coffee mug with your microwave in 1 minute. No joke.
This is incredible because it’s loaded with protein, has little to no sugar, is gluten-free, and even has some whole fruit in it.
As far as flavor and consistency go, it’s indistinguishable from a normal cake you’d get from the store, which means that you can absolutely satisfy that sweet tooth and feel good about what you are putting into your body.
Without further ado, let’s learn how to make a 1-minute vanilla chai protein mug cake!
Gather your materials
Gather the following utensils:
- 1 tablespoon
- 1/2 tablespoon
- 1/4 teaspoon
- 1 large coffee mug
- spoon
Gather your ingredients
Here’s what you need to make this:
- 1/4 tsp Baking powder
- 2 tbsp Gaspari Vanilla Chai Protein Powder (buy here) (you can use any protein you want, they all work the same)
- 1/2 tbsp 100% Cocao Powder
- 1/2 ripe banana
- 1/2 tbsp milk
Instructions
- Mash the banana in the mug first until it is broken down and creamy, small chunks are okay.
- Add all the other ingredients to the mug on top of the banana
- stir until it is all combined and has a batter-like consistency
- Make sure to scrap the bottom into the batter so that you get all the powders mixed in!
It should look something like this when you’re done mixing:
Once everything is mixed up, stick your protein mug cake batter into the microwave and turn it on for 1 minute.
Once the microwave, take your protein mug cake out and enjoy! You should have a cake that looks something like this:
Note: if your mug cake comes out too dry, add a touch more milk to the mixture and reheat in increments of 15 seconds. If you find that your mug cake is too moist, cut the milk down a little to make the cake a little drier. The milk is the main factor that will determine how moist/dry the cake is.
Nutrition Facts
Let’s talk nutrition. The factors that are going to make your protein mug cake different from mine are the protein you choose to use and what kind of milk you use. I used whole milk and Gaspari Proven Vegan Vanilla Chai protein.
Here is the breakdown of the protein mug cake as I made it:
